Terms for guests and hosts
Plain words about how stays, held money, cancellations, reviews and fees work. Version 2026-10-31.1.
Guest terms
1. Parties and acceptance
These terms are between you ("you") and the Jeepney Universe, the sovereign framework behind Jeepney.io ("we"). The Jeepney Universe exists in cyberspace and has no physical address or home country. We give you notices in your Jeepney.io notifications and at the email on your account, and you can reach us through the contact and support pages on Jeepney.io. By ticking the box when you send a booking request you agree to these terms. We record the version you accepted, the time and your IP address.
2. What Jeepney Hospitality is
Jeepney Hospitality lists places to stay and lets you send a booking request to the property. The property, not Jeepney, provides the stay. Your agreement for the stay is with the property. We run the listing, the request and message tools, and the holding and release of any deposit or prepayment under these rules. We do not own, operate or manage the properties and we do not guarantee any stay.
3. Your account
Use your own Jeepney.io account and give true information. You must be old enough to make a binding agreement where you live. A property may decline a request for any lawful reason. A badge such as ID-verified tells a property that your account passed the platform identity check. It is not required to ask for a stay.
4. Prices and what is included
The price shown for your dates is worked out from the rates the property set: a seasonal rate, else the weekend rate on Friday and Saturday nights, else the base rate, with one discount, the biggest that applies. The property sets its prices and is responsible for any tax in them. Ask the property about service charges, local fees, meals or other charges that are not shown. If a charge is not agreed with the property, you do not owe it.
5. Booking requests
A request is not a booking. It does not hold the room. The property may confirm or decline it, and when it confirms, the dates are checked again so a room cannot be given to two guests. Your booking exists once the property confirms. You can follow requests, send messages to the property and cancel a request under My Booking Requests. Be accurate about the number of guests and your dates. A property may refuse guests above the capacity of the room.
6. Deposits and prepayment
Most properties ask for no payment: you pay the property when you stay. A property may choose a deposit (a percent of the stay total) or a full prepayment. If it does, the amount is taken from your Jeepney wallet when you send the request and held. It is not paid to the property yet. Your wallet and any Quanta balance follow the Jeepney.io wallet rules; they are not bank deposits and do not earn interest. Choose your dates and the property page shows the amount that would be held before you send the request.
7. Cancellation and refunds
Held money is returned to your wallet in full if the property declines your request, if the property cancels a confirmed booking, if the property does not answer within 14 days, if you cancel a request that has not been confirmed, or if you cancel a confirmed booking inside the property's cancellation policy. The policy is shown on the property page: Flexible (cancel at least 24 hours before check-in), Moderate (at least 5 days) or Strict (at least 14 days). If you cancel a confirmed booking later than the policy allows, the held money goes to the property. You still owe the property whatever you and it agreed for the part of the stay that was not prepaid.
8. After your stay
Held money is paid to the property 3 days after check-out, or when the property marks the stay completed after check-out, unless you reported a problem. From the day of check-in you can use Report a problem in My Booking Requests on a confirmed stay with money held. Describe what went wrong. The money is frozen and we decide whether to return it to you or pay the property, after asking either side for details if needed. Our decision covers the held money only. It does not take away any right you have under the law or against the property.
9. Reviews
You may review a property after a confirmed stay of yours has ended, once per property, and you may edit it. Write only what you experienced, honestly. Do not offer or accept payment or other benefits for a review, do not threaten anyone, and do not post personal data or unlawful content. A property may reply in public. We may hide a review that breaks these rules and we do not change a review because a property asks us to.
10. Your conduct at the property
Follow the property's house rules and local laws, look after the property and its people, and do not use the property for anything unlawful or dangerous. You are responsible for loss or damage you or your party cause. If you feel unsafe or need urgent help, contact local emergency services first.
11. Receipts
You can open a Jeepney receipt for any booking with money held, refunded or paid out. It shows the amounts and what happened to them. It is a record of the money we handled, not the official receipt for the stay. The property is responsible for issuing that.
12. Your data
How we handle personal data in Jeepney Hospitality is described in the Jeepney Hospitality privacy notice. A property sees the details you give it, your messages and whether your account is ID-verified, and uses them to host you.
13. Liability
We provide the service with reasonable care but cannot promise it will always be available or error free, or that a listing is accurate; the property is responsible for its own listing. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for what a property does or fails to do. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
14. Changes, governing law and disputes
We may update these terms and will tell you when we do; the version you accepted is recorded. These terms are governed by the laws and rules of the Jeepney Universe, which are the Jeepney Economy rules, and they apply to you wherever you are. Nothing in them takes away rights you hold under a law that applies to you and cannot be waived, including consumer rights, and where such a law requires more, it applies too. If there is a dispute, we will first try to settle it by talking, then by mediation.
Host terms
1. Parties and acceptance
These terms are between the property owner or manager named in your registration ("you") and the Jeepney Universe, the sovereign framework behind Jeepney.io ("we"). The Jeepney Universe exists in cyberspace and has no physical address or home country. We give you notices in your Jeepney.io notifications and at the email on your account, and you can reach us through the contact and support pages on Jeepney.io. By ticking the box and registering or claiming a property you sign electronically and agree to these terms, together with the guest terms for what you owe guests. We record the version you accepted, the time and your IP address.
2. Who may list
You may list a property if you own it or are authorized to run it. Each listing is reviewed before it is public and we may approve, decline or later suspend it. If we added a listing for your business (marked Not yet on Jeepney), you may claim it by sending a note and proof of your authority; we may approve one claim, and then the listing becomes yours.
3. An honest listing
Your description, photos, rooms, capacity, rates, amenities, location and check-in and check-out times must be true and current. Use only photos you own or may use. Do not mislead guests about what they get, and never promise a Star or other recognition. Pick the location from the lists: it places your listing in the right city and territory.
4. Permits, taxes and your own duties
You are responsible for every permit, licence, accreditation and registration your property needs where it is, such as the local business permit, tourism accreditation and fire, sanitary and safety requirements, and for guest registration where the law requires it. You are responsible for your taxes and for issuing the official receipt for each stay. A Verified business badge only means we looked at a document you sent. It is not a guarantee, and it does not replace your own compliance.
5. Calendar and confirmed bookings
Keep your calendar honest. Close nights you cannot sell and link your other booking channels so a night booked elsewhere closes here. Confirm only what you can host. A confirmed booking is a promise to the guest. If you cancel one, any money held is returned to the guest in full, and repeated cancellations or no-shows by the host can lead to suspension.
6. Rates, promotions and policy
You set your rates, your weekend and seasonal rates, your promotions and your cancellation policy (Flexible, Moderate or Strict). Guests see the total for their dates before they ask. A stay gets one discount, the biggest that applies. You may choose no payment, a deposit of 10 to 50 percent, or a full prepayment. Once a guest sends a request under a policy, that policy applies to that request.
7. Held money and payouts
When you ask a deposit or prepayment, the guest's money is taken from their wallet and held. It is refunded in full if you decline or cancel, if you do not answer within 14 days, or if the guest cancels inside your policy. Otherwise it is paid to your Jeepney wallet: when you mark the stay completed after check-out, or automatically 3 days after check-out. If the guest reports a problem, the money is frozen and we decide whether to refund the guest or pay you. Payouts are in Quanta to your wallet, which follows the Jeepney.io wallet rules. You collect the rest of the price from the guest at the property, and you do not ask guests to move held payments outside the platform.
8. Fees
We keep 8 percent of the money we release to you. Nothing is kept from money that is refunded. The first 50 approved properties are Founding Hosts: no commission for 12 months and one free Priority Inspection. A Priority Inspection costs PHP 1,000 and guarantees that an inspector looks at your property within 30 days, or the fee is refunded automatically; it does not guarantee a Star. Sponsor slots cost PHP 500 per day (Title, one slot), PHP 200 per day (Category, one per recognition category) or PHP 50 per day (Supporter) and are paid from your wallet. We will tell you before we change a price, and the change does not apply to a stay already requested.
9. Recognition
Stars, the Value Pick and the Eco Star are given by our inspectors, can be changed or withdrawn, and are never for sale. The Rising Star signal is automatic from guest ratings and is not a Star. We decide recognition at our discretion and do not have to explain it.
10. Reviews and messages
Guests review only after a confirmed stay has ended. You may reply once in public, politely and truthfully. Do not pressure a guest to change or remove a review, do not post fake reviews, and do not offer a benefit for a review. We may hide a review that breaks the rules. Reply to requests and messages promptly.
11. Guest data
You receive a guest's name, dates, party size, messages and whether the account is ID-verified so you can host them. You are responsible for that personal data once you have it. Use it only to host the guest and meet your legal duties, keep it secure, do not share or sell it, and delete it when you no longer need it.
12. Your content
You keep your rights to your photos and text. You allow us to display them on Jeepney Hospitality, in search and in share previews, for as long as your listing is live and for a reasonable time after you remove it. You promise you have the right to give us that permission.
13. Not allowed
No fake or duplicate listings, no listing a property you are not authorized to run, no misleading photos, no unlawful use of the property, no refusing a guest for an unlawful reason, no harassing guests, and no trying to avoid our fees by moving held payments outside the platform. We will cooperate with the authorities where the law requires it.
14. Documents you send
Business permits, accreditations and claim proofs you upload are stored privately and opened only by our reviewers. We keep them while your listing is active and as long as the law or a dispute requires. You may ask us to delete them when you close your listing, except what we must keep by law.
15. Suspension and closing
We may suspend or close a listing or account that breaks these terms or the law, or that puts guests at risk, and we will tell you why unless the law stops us. Held money for stays already confirmed is still refunded or released under these rules. You may close your listing at any time; confirmed bookings must still be honored or cancelled under the refund rules.
16. Liability
We provide the service with reasonable care but cannot promise it will always be available or error free. We are a platform: you are responsible for your property, your listing, your guests and your compliance. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
17. Changes, governing law and disputes
We may update these terms and will tell you when we do; the version you accepted is recorded. These terms are governed by the laws and rules of the Jeepney Universe, which are the Jeepney Economy rules, and they apply to you wherever you are. Nothing in them takes away rights you hold under a law that applies to you and cannot be waived, and where such a law requires more, it applies too. If there is a dispute, we will first try to settle it by talking, then by mediation.
