Francisco Motor Corporation’s HARABAS Taksi 🇵🇭

HARABAS was bought by Francisco Motors from General Motors when GM closed shop in the Philippines and Francisco added the HARABAS to the PINOY as BUV or Basic Utility Vehicle (the predecessor of AUV and later on SUV).

HARABAS and the bigger PINOY were given birth by then President Ferdinand Marcos’ Progressive Car Manufacturing Program (PCMP) of which Francisco Motors is the ONLY 100% Filipino-owned automotive manufacturer who was able to compete with global brands such as Ford, Toyota and Mitsubishi.

HARABAS was widely used by the Manila Transit Corporation enabled by Presidential Decree 492 and was the brainchild of former First Lady Imelda R. Marcos to provide beautiful and comfortable public transportation for Filipinos.

Currently, Francisco Motors’ very aggressive Chairman and CEO Elmer Francisco’s marching order is to develop the new full electric HARABAS Taksi that would basically resemble London’s Hackney Taxi and dominate the market all over again.🔋

Just like its big brother the full electric Francisco Jeepney, HARABAS will also have a very affordable price tag that will position to become the modern day people’s car where every Filipino could afford. And, it’s environment friendly.

According to Francisco, “It is time for the Philippine renaissance in the automotive industry and simultaneously generate millions of jobs for our fellow-Filipinos.” 🇵🇭
